Conditions and Treatment
Slip disc
A herniated disc is a displacement of disc material beyond the spinal bones. The damage to the disc appears to be due to fully flexing the spine for a repeated or prolonged period of time.
Our approach
We initially treatment with gentle mobilization and light exercise which is then progressed by core strengthening program and postural correction.
Mechanical low back pain
Mechanical means the source of the pain is due to postures and movement performed which may cause damage to tissues like the spinal joints, discs, vertebrae, or soft tissues.
Sometimes, a specific trauma or strenuous activity may cause the pain. Mechanical LBP due to cumulative trauma tends to occur more commonly in the workplace.
Our approach
We use different tools like spinal joint mobilization, muscle toning and strengthening execises. Advice for postural correction while performing forward bending or side bending activities helps to reduce stress on the spinal bones and thus reduce the pain.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. In low back region, scoliosis can occur due to rotational forces over time and wear and tear of spine on one side compared to the other.
Our approach
We use postural assessment to see if you have any signs of scoliosis and confirm with diagnostic tests. We give strengthening and mobility exercises to help reduce the muscle imbalances and prevent pain.
Sciatica/Nerve impingement
Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Sciatica most commonly occurs when a herniated disk, bone spur in the spine or narrowing of the spine (spinal stenosis) compresses part of the nerve. This causes inflammation, pain and often some numbness/pins and needles in the affected leg.
Our approach
We help you to decrease the pressure on the nerve by joint mobilization to open up the joint
and soft tissue release to reduce. As soon as possible, we start nerve mobilization exercises
followed by toning program to prevent the reoccurrence.
Lumbar stenosis
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spaces within your spinal canal, which can put pressure on the spinal cord that travel through the spine. You may experience pain, tingling, numbness and muscle weakness. Spinal stenosis is most commonly caused by wear-and-tear changes in the spine related to osteoarthritis or due to excessive movement of the spinal bones due to instability.
Our approach
We use mobility exercises, spinal mobilization and abdominal strengthening to manage symptoms and restoring function and relieving pain. This would be followed by toning program to prevent the reoccurrence. Hot fermentation and anti-inflammatory drugs would help in hastening the treatment regime.
