Conditions and Treatment

Autoimmune Diseases
Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the small bones in your spine (vertebrae) to fuse. This fusing makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched-forward posture. Early signs and symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis might include pain and stiffness in your lower back and hips, especially in the morning and after periods of inactivity. Neck pain, stiffness and fatigue also are common.

Our approach
We aim to treat with gentle mobilization, specific stretching, general low-load  strengthening exercises and breathing exercises to be able to alleviate pain, increase spinal mobility and functional capacity. Correcting spinal postural alignment helps to reduce the deformities.

Gout
Gout is a common and complex form of arthritis that can affect anyone. It’s characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in the small joints, commonly in thumbs and base of the big toe. Gout occurs when urate crystals accumulate in your joint, due to high uric acid causing the inflammation and intense pain of joints.

Our approach
We identify symptoms of pain to originate due to gout and the accordingly manage along with medical professional. Gout medication and anti-inflammatory are recommended. Along with this we use icing, soft tissue release, taping and gentle joint mobilization to manage pain. Diet and fluid control is extremely important management strategy to avoid reoccurrence of a flare up.

Rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. Unlike the wear-and-tear damage of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease that affects the lining of your joints, causing a painful swelling that can eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity. Early rheumatoid arthritis tends to affect your smaller joints first — particularly the joints that attach your fingers to your hands and your toes to your feet. As the disease progresses, symptoms often spread to the wrists, knees, ankles, elbows, hips and shoulders.Symptoms are in form of joint swelling, pain, stiffness, and thickening of cartilage, redness and joint deformity.

Our Approach
We work on symptom management. Pain relief and swelling is addressed by offloading joints by taping, joint mobilization and soft tissue release. Stiffness and deformity is taken care by mobility exercises and muscle strengthening.
Icing helps acute swelling and hot fermentation helps with chronic swelling and pain. Referral to endocrinologist will help with medical and pain drug management.

Fibromyalgia syndrome
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition .The pain syndrome commonly affects the fascia covering around the muscles and ligaments. Trigger points and myofascial tightness results in multi area pain and tenderness. Other symptoms include sleep problems, fatigue, and often emotional and mental distress.

Our approach
We address trigger points with soft tissue release and gentle stretching exercises. General fitness and a mobility toning program helps with pain maintenance and long term pacing and goal management.
